I already have a web site, why would I use your
services? |
Top |
| A web site needs to be updated
and improved upon regularly to keep visitors coming
back! Repeat visitors means repeat business! If your
web site remains the same for years, it will be old
news. As you know, times change, especially after
Sept. 11th 2001. The environment, interests, way-of-life,
and economy around us evolve, and so should your
web site. What may have been a great web site last
year may not be doing what it was intended for today.
Marketers are constantly giving facelifts to their
web sites to stay ahead of the game and to be "in" with
current technology, looks and functionality. Many
companies change their web sites regularly to keep
up with the demand for ease of use, to be with the
latest cliché among other reasons. Keep in
mind that a web site is not only a place on the web
for your business, but is an intricate part of your
marketing plan and virtual storefront, an extension
of your business. People do and will judge
your business by the look and function of your web site.
First impressions are everything! |

9. I have a web site, but every time I try to search
for it on the web, I can never find it. Why? |
Top |
Search engine placement is one of the biggest misconceptions customers and web-goers have. Just because you have a web site with description and keyword meta tags does not mean you will be indexed, indexed in the right search engines, or categorized correctly. Without explicit meta usage, your web site could get "lost in the sauce", rejected for indexing, indexed in the wrong place with a description that makes no sense, or whatever.
There really is no guarantee if your web site will
make the areas you want it to be indexed under regardless
of manually submitting the URL to the engine, or
letting the engines spider crawl and index your site.
To help get your web site listed in the right place
and not all pages listed requires careful placement
of the right assortment of meta tags.
Some of these tags are in the code of this page, go take a look at the source code.
Keep in mind that although meta tags help to control the behavior of the indexing bots in how they list your site, there still is no guarantee that your site will become listed.
Another big misconception is that just because you are listed in the search engines does not mean that when you search for a keyword listed in your meta keywords section that it will be on the results page. With so many millions of web sites out there, the chances of your site being on the results page from a keyword search would be slim to none, or the thousandth page at best, but you never know, you could have that rare keyword that someone happens to search for.
You can thank the big sites like Microsoft, abbey, and the search engines themselves for this. These companies pay big money to have their sites appear first off in the results page. |
